You may or may not have heard of Motion Device. They shot to fame on Youtube covering classic metal tracks such as that of Black Sabbath’s ‘Paranoid’ back when vocalist Sara was about 9! The band, although young, showed great promise and through grit, tenacity, a kick-starter campaign or two and a butt-load of talent; the culminations of dreams and a lot of work hours has finally come to fruition in the form of the band’s debut album, ‘Eternalize’. ‘Raw talent’ is the term that comes to mind when listening to the album. Far from the days of covers, the album is 12 tracks of original material.
Brilliantly composed, it’s easy to forget that these guys’ combined ages make for maybe one band member in some of their peers’ bands. The album is like listening to something by one of the heavy hitters. It’s somehow familiar stuff but with a fresh take. It’s easy to fall in love with this album. Hell, with this kind of new talent on the playing field, get ready to fall in love with the genre all over again! Very much Dio with a splash of Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden amongst other influences and you’re left with something very enjoyable.
Some people say that rock is dead, well Motion Device are here to prove that this is just not the case! This album is a must have and easily one of the best I’ve listened to this year so far.
